The Taiwanese manufacturer Acer has launched a series of new gaming products: two new notebooks, a mouse and a 5G router. The highlights are clearly the new laptops – both of the Predator line –, which have state-of-the-art Intel processor (i9, 11th generation, Tiger Lake-H) and NVidia video cards (GeForce RTX Series 30). The new Triton is what Acer calls the “special edition” of their gaming line, designed to embrace both PC games and the working environment. Hybrid, the machine has Intel® CoreTM i9 Tiger Lake-H processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and up to 64 GB of 3200 DDR4 memory MHz, embedded in a 19.9 mm (mm) thick housing.
When it comes to battery life, Acer promises up to 12 hours of life on this computer, with 4 TB internal storage (fourth generation PCIe). The idea here is to combine the portability and comfort of a notebook to work, with the power of a classic gaming computer.
The display is 16 inches long, with a 16:10 frame and 87% screen proportion for the body. There are three panel options, including 165 WQXGA Mini LED Ua Hz with maximum brightness of 1.250 nits and 100% coverage of the sRGB color range and a 240 Hz PolarBlack IPS WQXGA display with a response time of 3 ms and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color range.
The metal chassis hides a thermal management system with three fans (with three distinct modes, including the silent plate for moments of lesser activity), five Real-time hardware monitoring predatorSense, which allows overclocking.
There is also a set of USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, including two ThunderboltTM 4 Type-C ports that support DisplayPort and a 7.0.
The Helios 500 is another Acer release for the gaming sector, and comes with a Intel® CoreTM i9 Tiger Lake-H processor with overclocking capability, video card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and 64 GB of memory 3200 DDR4 MHz.
This is a set that according to the manufacturer is able to run the most demanding games. It also has a pair of PCIe NVMe SSDs in RAID 0 and a SATA HDD.
The Helios 500 has two display options with 17.3 inch screen: a 4K Mini LED display of 120 Hz with AUO AmLED technology that supports local intensity reduction across the matrix and is comparable to VESA Display HDRTM 1000; or a FHD 360 screen AUO Hz with a 3 ms response time for smoother image drive.
In the unique features of the manufacturer, the PowerGem technology, designed tailor made of a metal alloy polymer that sits at the top of the CPU and serves to distribute, throughout the device, the heat it generates; works together with Vortex Flow, which employs two fans to redirect the airflow of the essential components, expanding its performance. In addition, the same PredatorSense function of Triton 500 SE is present here.
Moreover, the Helios 500 brings several ports, including an HDMI 2.1, a mini-DP 1.4, two Type-C ThunderboltTM 4 USB ports, three USB 3.2 (2nd generation) ports with offline charging support and a RJ45 port, as well as an Intel® KillerTM E3100G Ethernet controller, Wi-Fi 6 AX1650i and Control Center 2.0. The DTS:X Ultra audio support and simulated 3D surround sound complete the package.
The Predator Connect X5 5G CPE is the world’s first router, according to Acer, compatible with Intel Killer technology, which provides 5G to 4.7 gigabits per second (Gbps) speed.
Predator Connect has a dedicated “GAME” port that works at higher data transmission speed, lower latency and specific projection for games that require constant online connection.
The control center brought by Intel Killer allows fine adjustments to uplink and downlink speeds, defined by user priority preferences, as well as automatically detecting and implementing more suitable speed settings for games.
The router comes equipped with a 2 ARM Cortex quad-core processor GHz with 1 GB of DDR4 RAM and 1 GB of Flash memory. Beyond the door LAN GAME dedicated, it also brings a standard LAN port, a WAN port, USB, an entrance to SIM Card, a set of main antenna ports and Div TS-9 and WPS, for additional security and finally an integrated USB port.
